IF: Worry - Day 17 of 21
I thought I wouldn't participate in Illustration Friday this time, but something happened that made me feel and understand better than never the true meaning of worry, anguish and fear.
Last Saturday, very early before dawn, I was still sleeping when I was awakened by the sound of the phone ringing, it was Carlos, my husband, who had had an accident while he was driving to his work. Another driver, travelling in opposite direction, apparently fell asleep or was drunk and suddenly crossed to my husband's lane, throwed the car on him and made him fall into a ditch by the road to avoid crashing. After that he ran away, leaving Carlos' car almost upside down into the ditch, without even bother to know if he was injured or trying to help him. Luckly Carlos was not speeding and only received some bumbs, being able to get out of the car on his own.
Time was an eternity to me until I could reach to the place where he was and verify he was really ok. All the family in fact could only be calmed when we were able to hug him. It was only a big fright, and we are happy and thankful to God , but inside remains a feeling of sadness and worry for what could have happened.
This squetch is very dirty and messy, but I needed to draw this image and feeling inside of me.

Day 15 of 21
An express birdie. This colors were left on my palette , and I couldn't resist using them, so I took a brush and let it play on the paper for a while :)

Day 14 of 21

One of the purposes of these exercises is to challenge ourselves trying techniques we don't often use. One of this cases for me is digital illustration, I began with a sketch drawn with a blue felt pen, and all the rest is photshop. I know I am very far from achieving a respectable illustration with this media, but I have to say that I had fun playing with this image. I have to give it another chance :)

Day 13 of 21

This week topic for Illustration Friday is "electricity". A bit crazy, but I like this idea about a kid that lights the stars. Up to now just a sketch...

Day 12 of 21

A fast and simple watercolor to paint this little bird, it's a "hornero" (ovenbird), it abounds in our country, it's our national bird. It really is a hard worker, gentle and a dear animal. The couple (they keep the same all life long) builds the nest, mainly with mud, in a short time, and uses it during a year. It's very frequent to see this nests on posts and on trees brunches.

Day 11 of 21
I' m starting to care for this character. Although I didn't paint anything yesterday, I spent long time trying to write a text that could give sense to this illustration...I have lots of ideas in mind, but it's easier to render them in images than in words :)
What do you do illustrator friends when this happens to you? Is it possible to find a writer who accepts working with ideas proposed by the illustrator?
I have to apologyze for my delay with this challenge, I'm doing it at my own rythm, which sometimes can be a bit slow, but I rather work steady and conscienciously than hurried and bad.
I want to thank all the comments that you leave here, and I am hoping to visit you in the next days. I'm realy learning a lot from all of you with this experience and is great to be able to share it with people so talented and generous that also feels the same love for illustration.
